Multigenerational Gathering

5pm Thursday October 30th, 2025 - 5pm Friday, October 31st, 2025 (with optional, informal gathering the evening of the 31st into the evening of Saturday November 1st.

Owen Barfield describes our time as "The point at which the individual feels himself to be entirely cut off from the surrounding cosmos and is for that reason fully conscious of himself as an individual” This painful reality is essential to our journey toward freedom, an awakening through encountering our selfless self in the encounter with others and the world that comes to meet us. Concurrently the Zeitgeist of our time is a Being called Michael (Mi-ke-el: literally "who is like God?"), whose very name is a question that lives in us. The answer assumed  may be "No one" or may be found in the countenance of each and every one. The shining of the I AM.

We may feel the chronic illness of our time accentuated by our own isolation or exhaustion.  The scale of polarization, paralysis and violence can be overwhelming. By coming together with inspired individuals who are willing to share their experiences working practically with insights from spiritual science, we may find hope and clarity for our present and future tasks

This multigenerational gathering will take place at Union Grove Church in Hillsborough, NC. It will bring together people of all ages interested in deepening their knowledge and understanding (or learning about for the first time) of different careers and initiatives within Anthroposophy. If you are brand new to Anthroposophy, you can learn more about it here.

Some initiatives that may be represented include biodynamic farming, Waldorf education, Eurythmy, theater, Threefold economics, Anthroposophically informed parenting, Anthroposophical medicine & psychology and The Christian Community.

The character of this conference will depend on who shows up and how willing we are to seek and find a renewed relationship to life through one another. Instead of long lectures full of wisdom that may be mostly forgotten, talks will be 5-10 minutes long or will be dialogs or conversations between two or a few and then at times open for all to participate. Workshops will give time to go into more focused depth on the workings of Anthroposophy in the World.

The daily flow of the conference will include time for plenty of movement, singing, rest, nourishing food, autobiographical sharing, light talks, and one-on-one encounters. A full schedule will be released closer to the event.

We will provide snacks Thursday evening, a light breakfast Friday morning, and a nourishing soup with sides for lunch on Friday.

The gathering will officially end at 5pm on Friday the 31st. However, we invite you to join us for a night of community on the 31st filled with folk dancing, plenty of conversation and perhaps a halloween bonfire! We will prepare a simple meal of lentils and rice on this evening, asking those who stay for a $5 donation for ingredients.

The facilities will continue to be available for informal gathering and community through 8am Sunday morning. Folks are welcome to stay but no formal activities will be planned during this time. Saturday will be self-organized and self-clean up for those who wish to continue the fun!

Camping is available (included in ticket price, bring your own gear) through 8am Sunday morning, November 1st on the lush, natural grounds of the church.

Sunday morning we invite all folks to join us for breakfast at a local restaurant and then attend service at The Christian Community (515 S 3rd St. Mebane, NC 27302) at 10:30 am.

If a lack of childcare prevents you from coming to this event, please contact us at healingencountersnc@gmail.com as we have many volunteers (many of whom are trained Waldorf teachers) available to provide childcare and the grounds of the church are equipped with a playground, outdoor classroom and amphitheater, volleyball and basketball court and plenty of nature.
