Shared Visions

A Youth Section Gathering of Will

Are you holding the question:

“How can I find and bring my contribution to the world?”

We are hosting a space to help young adults find steps forward through anthroposophy (human-wisdom).

5pm Sunday October 26th-1pm Thursday October 30th

Structure of the Gathering

This gathering will focus on developing our individual callings.

We will work in the intersections of:

Economics (The meeting of other’s needs)

and—

Inner development (The healing of consciousness)

Through the lens of anthroposophy, we will work towards a shared understanding of the social organism in relation to the human being. Upon this foundation, we will narrow in on the inspirations we are individually holding. Workshops with Timothy Kennedy and Louisa Barnum — both experts in their respective fields — will help us identify and move through external and internal roadblocks.

In short, we are gathering to support each others’ practical and spiritual paths.

Facilitators

  • Timothy Kennedy

Timothy Kennedy lives in Portland, OR and has been engaged with anthroposophical communities since his early childhood. He seeks to incorporate and embody anthroposophy in all aspects of modern life, which has included co-creating the largest natural building and design company in the US for 24 years. Currently, he facilitates the global Natural Building Network online; and is consulting, designing, teaching and building collaboratively throughout the western United States. His membership in the School of Spiritual Science leads to colleagueship in several sections, and he is especially active with the Social Sciences Section coordination in North America, and the Economics Conference of the Goetheanum. Whenever he can, he teaches entrepreneurship and financial literacy as an inner and outer path of service, especially to the younger generations.

  • Louisa Barnum

Louisa Barnum has been coaching for more than 15 years, currently working with senior leadership teams on leadership and culture building in organizations. She also works with small business owners on growing their companies through strategy advisory and leadership coaching. As a consultant from 2013 - 2020 she supported teams in multi-stakeholder projects doing social change work around the world, such as peace-building in Zimbabwe, the future of democracy across South America, and the Youth and Justice system in the United States.

She also has supported individuals struggling with a range of mental health issues such as PTSD and trauma, depression, OCD, and anxiety. Louisa is deeply influenced by the work of Steiner, Dennis Klocek and Georg Kuhlewind primarily, as well as other notable Anthroposophical researchers such as Paul Emberson, Karsten Massei, and Are Thoreson. Her focus has been on developing practical methods for personal transformation and has built a number of online membership programs, courses, and mini-courses on Social Sculpture, inner development, meditation, and relationship dynamics.

For Louisa, inner development and the challenges of business are intimately connected, as they represent the crucible where mystery wisdom becomes practical spiritual tools for personal and societal transformation. Steiner’s three-fold society indications provide rich material with which to navigate out of the old world of business as usual, and into the new world that is trying to be born in an increasingly chaotic and distressed world.

Louisa Barnum is mother of two adult children and currently lives in California. She started her career as a classically trained musician in violin and voice before switching to coaching. Her background as a musician has greatly influenced her unique approach to her work. You can find out more at magenta.fm.

We will begin each day with a meditative practice to build our listening will for the day.

Following this, we will have workshops facilitated by Timothy Kennedy and Louisa Barnum, focused on outer action through economic consciousness and inner action through personal development.

Afternoons will be spent working on local land-based projects together, engaging the will and getting into movement together.

Evenings will be for reflecting, making music, sharing stories, and getting to know each other.

We will be camping, sharing meals and holding our facilitated conversations at the Union Grove Church in Hillsborough NC: 6401 Union Grove Church Road, Hillsborough, NC, 27278. Land-based projects will be at the Church as well as CommonGround EcoVillage and other local initiatives.

Your registration cost covers all meals (bring your own snacks) and camping (bring your own gear) with access to indoor showers and bathrooms. For those who need it, we can do our best to arrange home-stays - if this is a need, contact us at healingencountersnc@gmail.com.

We look forward to welcoming you into a special time together in the land of the pines, sharing visions and discovering what new initiatives may be born among us!

Acknowledgement statement: We are working out anthroposophy, a stream of esoteric knowledge first brought to the public by Rudolf Steiner in the early 1900s.

In our experience, anthroposophy is a practice of discerning truth. We believe working with anthroposophy alongside others leads to its practical application to build a world worth gifting to the next generation. Our relationship with anthroposophy has brought us better questions, rather than spiritual answers.
